Final Fantasy and poetry, they go together well. I've been a poet for years, though I haven't written anything for a while. Game music, and Final Fantasy music in particular has always been a way for me to write poetry based on the music. No they aren't lyrics to the song. The emotions and sound of the music bring the words to me. This is a poem I've written that's based half on Locke's feelings towards Rachel (FF VI) and half based on one similar event in my life. I've written it while listening to Forever Rachel.

It doesn't have a title yet. If you can think of one, tell me. If you think it's good, or good enough, I'll put it on my deviantart.

Here's the poem:

Emotions run deeper than words could grasp.
An unfortunate event had fallen upon you.
I couldn't bring myself to the rescue
The raging power, felt as an obliterating mind trap.

Endless questions run through my head.
Why was I there, what could I possibly have said?
What would the outcome be if I had?
Now that my heart feels cold and upset.

If I could there is one last wish I would like to grant.
Even though my life won't extend.
However you do not seem to understand.
Was the relationship we had never to be meant?

In the last efforts of despair I vow to be by your side.
A body forever asleep, and my heart tells me I lied.
Unable to guard one from the disaster.
You will find my life when I return to the caster.

Well that was... poetic. Bad pun aside, that was quite beautiful. Smiley
