Sales of Square Enix's massive role-playing game Final Fantasy XIII have eclipsed the 5 million mark worldwide since releasing in March, the publisher revealed in a recent financial briefing.

The game joined the Japanese release of Dragon Quest IX and action title Batman: Arkham Asylum in helping Square Enix post a record profit for the year. Speaking of the Dark Knight, the Eidos game has enjoyed a strong outing at retail, selling over 3 million copies since debuting last August.

The highly-anticipated latest chapter in the Final Fantasy franchise performed very well when it debuted on March 13 of this year, selling 1.3 million copies in the U.S. for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, according to figures from the NPD Group.

5 million copies sold in 2 months. Pretty good numbers.

in 2005, ffvii had sold 10 milions copies. now when they realesed it on the psp, its even more! hehe
