So basically Final Fantasy 13 had a good ending, but it cost quite a price. Kind of like how Final Fantasy X ended, but less sad because Final Fantasy X ended with a sad note (the speech and the farewell), while in the ending of Final Fantasy XIII it was more like a sacrifice which lended to eternal peace or something like that.

Now I was wondering the other day and I figured out that FF XIII-2 could be made to wrap up the bad taste that FF XIII left behind. So I guess the ultimate goal is to unthaw the crystalization of Vanille and Fang! Kind of like how Yuna ended up with Tidus in the end of Final Fantasy X-2! What do you guys think? angel

I actually think it would end on a happier note because I remember Square Enix asking something like "Is Lightning truly happy?" and in FFXIII-2, Lightning has disappeared to do something. In the beginning of the E3 trailer, Lightning says: "Time flows without pause in a world where I no longer exist. The future is about to change. Serah, the truth still survives... but only you remember it." So I see Lightning in a medieval looking armor and the world she's in looks pretty ancient and she says "The future is about to change". My guess is that she's trying to undo something in the past to prevent the conflict between Cocoon and Pulse and therefore the innocent people who died in the purge won't die (such as Alyssa's friend and Hope's mother) and Fang and Vanille won't need to sacrifice themselves to save Cocoon. I'm just guessing lol but overall, I think that indeed FFXIII-2 will have a happy ending.

Good theory Tyloni!! I didnt think of that!! But if the future will change then it makes no sense because she would change the past? According to director Motomu Toriyama, Etro will be a central character in the story. In the first trailer, Lightning promises Etro that she will protect her legacy. It is also possible that the crystal building shown in trailer is her temple and/or her resting place.

"Sleep in peace, divine Etro. I will stand guard over your legacy."
—Lightning

Etro was the 'Fal'Cie' who gave people their hearts. Basically humans were born from her blood. When people from the realm of the living died they passed on to the realm of the dead. Etro greeted them, and gave each a piece of the chaos to hold inside of them. This is what people would come to call "heart" and was their greatest strength without the people even realizing it themselves. Because humans held the chaos so close, the world balance was once again restored.

Such an interesting read  laugh I guess Lightning is there to keep the balance in the world

If she changes the past, then she would change the future. I'm just guessing anyway lol
