OK, so this could obviously get really nasty really quick if people aren't respectful, so I'm gonna just set this banhammer jr out where its within easy reach.
police
No calling anyone a terrorist, crusader, tree-hugger, or nut-job, and please don't turn this thread into a "you should believe the same as me or your eternal soul is lost" sermon. Don't show disrespect or contempt towards someone else's beliefs, though genuine questions and respectful debate is perfectly acceptable.

Now that the warnings are over:
I'm a PK; preacher's kid.
I was raised Church of Christ (Christian).
I dabbled (dangerously, IMHO) in Wicca, Transcendentalism, Shinto, Gnosticism and a handful of others during my rebellious years, then went Agnostic for a while as I studied "comparative religion".
I enjoyed the Catholic church services more than the Protestant ones while I was in the Army.
Currently I go to a Church of Christ almost every Sunday, and am even on the choir (I sing tenor and bass).

Despite all that I'd label my beliefs/religion as Taoist more than Christian. Call it appropriate or just corny, I also found myself agreeing with a lot of Bugenhagen's (FF7, Cosmo Canyon, Red XIII's adopted grandfather) speech/cut-scene about the life stream and how all life energy is tied together. Through in a little Einstein ("matter can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change forms" + "E = mc^2") and the occasional idea/question from the movie "Dogma" and you have a well rounded idea of my belief structure.

What labels do you attach to what you believe (or do you believe at all)?

I don't have a religion. What i believe is that good can come from people if they just set their minds to it. For example if anytime a disaster happens all people can suddenly get along and work together. Now why can't we do that without having a disaster to bing us closer!

Because a "one time expense" donation or charitable act is much easier to commit to than a long term support plan, unfortunately.

I'm born in an Christian family, though right now I've tossed aside all believes in any religion. I'm more the type that believes in science, such as the world was made during the big bang rather than by a holy person. For me religion itself is nothing more than a book written in ancient times to control the people and calm them in times of chaos.

I was raised in a family and culture with no religion,I don't believe at all hmm.. i don't see why people prey to '' god '' for '' help '' and why they follow words from the bibles, the Qur’an etc, but i still respect them if they want to believe.

great debate! I m a Muslim, Tunisia is a country with Islam as main religion, unfortunately Tunisia and rest of countries of Maghreb or north Africa are not categorized as a different part of the Muslim world, we're all considered same like the Middle East countries which is very wrong. Islam like all rest of religions was subject to theological differences that lead to the appearance of many branches. People in North Africa are mostly Sunnite following the Meliki school or teachings, this branch is more lenient, apprehending the need to evolve and coexist, and has been positively affected by the occidental world. I do have faith in my own beliefs but I'd rather always keep that distance enabling me to see the world from another perspective. I learned that everything will remain questionable and could be subject to criticism, that respect is the most convenient way to act if I wanted to be treated in same way.

What I appreciated about Final Fantasy or other rpgs video games etc, it s that it brought people close no matter what their believes were, we are all sharing same passion, we appreciated what those spiritual creators developed along these years, there are no boundaries, in a world where there won't be prejudices, religion won't get people apart.

I am personally Roman catholic but my closest church has a priest, like most, but... is not very imaginative. he does nothing but read from
the bible, gets some people to read and some times argue about the babies. it just bores me to death!! I've been put off church :/
I've been catholic ever since birth and really I've never understood the whole my religion/culture/race is the best and therefore every one must follow it and if you don't I dislike/hate you and you must be show the faults in your religion/culture/race. >.>
I personally don't understand  huh but hey, that's my opinion :/

No religion - wasn't bought up with one. I'm an agnostic, boderline athiest, ie. don't believe and it's something that you can't really prove. I don't believe in religion per se, as in god, jesus, etc, however I do believe there is an external greater power (ie. outside the universe if that is possible), that formed what we are today. Even if the big bang was just a bang, that itself can be deemed "god".

Yes i also believe there is more. Not in the way of a god. (Not to disrespect people who believe in God) But more in the way of evolution. Something caused us to be here and excist. And who knows what we can envolve in to Smiley
