SPOILERSSSSSSSSS (obviously kept to a minimum)

I threw my dualshock across the room (luckily it hit a padded chair) after I got tossed around by the end boss of Chapter 11 in FF13 for the second time after a grueling, futile half hour of fighting.  When I finally figured out his weakness, I school him the third time.

Yunalesca (FFX) has been known to give me some trouble, with her fast attacks and status ailments >.<

And top honors to FFT - Weigraf 1v1 fight with Ramza.  If you haven't prepared before this fight and save right before it, there is no hope of training and grinding to beat him...its game over, start again!

Third battle against Seymour (the one on Mount Gagazet) gave me probably the most trouble. Total Annihilation is so cheap.

to this day I've never been able to beat Neo Exdeath. Grand Cross is the single cheapest move in all FF history.

for a standard boss i always had trouble with the demons gate on ff vii (although not as much anymore  Grin )

optional bosses that kicked my teeth about then used them to scratch its back are

omega mk v from ffv (i know its not called that but it does sound cool)
ozma ff ix ( took me at least 4-5 years to kill that )
gilgame (that dumbass turtle from ffv that if ya dont have float on at the killing blow ya can say good bye with a 6000 hp+ attack of quake/earthshaker and at that point your lucky if ya got 2000 hp )

Third battle against Seymour (the one on Mount Gagazet) gave me probably the most trouble. Total Annihilation is so cheap.
am i the only person who didnt have trouble with this? Hmmmmmmmm

Penance by far in FF X. If your stats aren't 255 on everything, INCLUDING LUCK, then you can't beat it.

Definately agree with Senter on this one. Penance was ridiculously tough. i maxed all my stats except for luck and penance basically made a complete mockery of all the hours i had put into the game up to that point. i think i lasted about a minute and a half.

Cameras and Guns, both have been created by science. While others destroy I will be capturing the beauty of this world.

I had major issues with Yunalesca in FFX *grin* and had to call in backup from the hubby! Also in revenant wings for the ds..there was this one level that was just insane and the boss would just slay everyone. Took a few hours of leveling up to just start hurtin him. In FF7 it wasn't a boss but the gold chocobo that just about killed me controllers chunked, tears of frustration, and a genuine HELLLLLLLLYEAH! when i got that little golden bastard!

Well, nowadays I find no REAL challenges in FF games, with XIII being surprisingly difficult.

But about 5-6 years ago when I was much younger I had trouble with Yunalesca in X and Adel in VIII.
The VIII one was especially difficult considering I played it completely in German and didn't understand the junction system one bit. Actually, I wonder how I even got that far 0_o

Not really a boss, but the Midgar Zolom made me ragequit when I was little. Does that count?

Otherwise, what Duke said. There's no -real- challenging bosses in FF games. Some bosses I may have struggled for a bit (Ozma in IX, Seymour Flux in X, first Demon Wall in XII just to name a few) but eventually I overcame them. Ragequit doesn't exist for me anymore! Smiley

for optional FF bosses i have to say yiazmat in FF12 and emerald weapon in FF7.

lol id have to say the hardest one is the first time you encounter bahamut in FFIII (NES-J/NDS/iPhone)
mainly cus most people run... you can fight it and win but it doesnt change the story... (winning is imposible with out action replay lol)
