I would have to say that the katana would be my favorite I don't really have a reason though

Katana!! Who doesn't like to run around with a katana in their hands? It's cool and less heavy than a sword so you can really slice around and fight with it without having to worry about the weight of the sword.

Bow and Arrow. Being able to strike from a distance is always a nice advantage

Lances and/or spears, cause they have range and power, which is a great combo

Mine would have to be Greatswords they are huge and hard to wield but will cleave your enemy down in one stroke or two.

Knives, they are a good al round weapon. easly hidden, you can use them for attack and defence and they can be thrown.

Bow - flying pesky mobs
Whip - Bedroom

I choose a lance or more specifically a poleaxe. Good distance and quite a powerful weapon in the right hands. In second was Katanas and third was martial arts.

I'd have to go with a lance/spear/poleaxe - particularly liked Kimari's variations on it in FFX.

For ranged, I'd go with FFXII's guns.  It was just something awesome sitting back from afar, dealing tons of elemental damage with different types of bullets.

For me it will have to be a mace/axe.  They may be slow, but the power makes up for that.
